Ann Gasque Williams, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1935, in Mullins, a daughter of the late John Leon Gasque and Virginia Myrtle Hood Gasque. She moved to Marion as a young child when her father became sheriff of Marion County. She was a 1953 graduate of Marion High School and a 1957 graduate of Columbia College, where she was one of the founders of the Ludy Bowl. After graduating in 1957, she came to Georgetown to teach. She also taught at Moore Junior High School in Florence for a time. After returning to Georgetown, she was employed for several years as a caseworker with the Georgetown County Welfare Department. After her marriage in 1964, she taught at Winyah Junior High School and later worked as the attendance clerk at J.B. Beck Middle School until she retired June 28, 1997. She was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and the Columbia College Alumnae Association.

Survivors include her husband, Willson McKewn ``Mack'' Williams of Georgetown; a son, Willson McKewn ``Will'' Williams Jr. and his wife, Ellen Moore Williams, both of Sumter; a grandson, Jacob Williams of Sumter; two sisters, Jean G. Hilton of Charlotte, N.C., and Bobbie Gasque of Loris; six nephews; five nieces; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

She was predeceased by a brother, J. Leon Gasque Jr. of Columbia.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Ben Sloan will officiate. Burial will be in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
