My great-aunt Edna may have been tiny in stature, but she certainly made sure everyone knew how she felt. It seems to me most of the women on my mom's side really didn't have to say much, they just had a certain LOOK and you knew what it meant. She was a deeply religious lady and went to church every Sunday until she was unable. She was very

Morrison-Werner Vows Exchanged Saturday Evening ~ published in The Vidette-Messenger on October 1, 1952
The marriage of Miss Edna Werner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Werner and Hugh Morrison, Wanatah, son of Mrs. Mary Morrison, Peru, IN, took place at the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. The Rev. Edwin Mayer performed the single ring ceremony.
The bride was attired in a navy and white crepe dress with navy accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds.
Mrs. Walter Batzka, sister of the bride, was the attendant and was also dressed in navy and her corsage was like that of the bride.
Walter Batzka attended the groom.
Members of the immediate family were at the reception at the home of the bride's parents immediately after the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Morrison left Saturday evening on an Eastern trip.
Mrs. Morrison is assistant cashier at the Wanatah State Bank, and the groom is a foreman at Allis-Chalmers, LaPorte.

Edna E. Morrison, 96, a lifetime Wanatah resident, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home.
She was born August 16, 1905 in Porter County, the daughter of Fred L. and Julia Werner.
She graduated from Wanatah High School in 1924, served as a telephone operator at the Wanatah Exchange and then was a teller and bookkeeper for Wanatah State Bank. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah, the Ladies Guild and Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews: Don Werner of AZ, Kenneth (Edris) Batzka of Morgan Township, Joan (Bruce) Bogan of Valparaiso, John (Janice) Werner of Bloomington, IN, Shirley Adams of TN, Norman Werner of Wanatah, Marvin (Becky) Werner of Wanatah, Betty Ann Werner of Valparaiso, one sister-in-law Gladys Werner of AZ, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Morrison, one sister, Dora Batzka, and two brothers, Louis and Arthur Werner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Salem Church in Wanatah, Rev. Craig Forwalter officiating with burial at Salem Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday, 10:00 - 11:00am at Salem Church. Memorials may be made to Salem United Church of Christ. Wanatah Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
