Benjamin Ryan Petrzilka, 13, of Omaha, NE, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 2008. He was one of four teens killed that night when a tornado struck Little Sioux Boy Scout Camp. Ben attended Mary Our Queen Grade School where he was a good student and great friend. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially being involved with the Boy Scouts since 2005, where as a member of Troop 448, an assistant Patrol Leader and earned the rank of First Class as well 21 merit badges. Ben had reached the rank of Star and was an assistant leader of the Ninja Patrol of Troop 448. He not only belonged to the Boy Scouts but also believed in and lived by their oath. Ben was an extraordinary young man who always put others first. He was kind, respectful, polite, and very giving to everyone. Ben was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Ben was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mae Petrzilka. Beloved son of Bryan Cletus and Arnell (nee Nordmeyer) Petrzilka. Dear brother of Jackson Petrzilka. Proud great-grandson of Rose Dutcher. Cherished grandson of Cletus and Darlene Petrzilka of Louisville, NE, Everett (Sonny) and Jeanne Nordmeyer, both of Sherwood, AR. Loving nephew of Vicki Petrzilka, John and Kathy Nordmeyer, Jeff Nordmeyer, Roger and McKenzie Petrzilka. He is also survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends. Arrangements were entrusted by the Crosby Burket Swanson-Golden Colonial Chapel, 11902 West Center Road, Omaha, NE 68144. Visitation was offered on Monday, June 15, 2008 from 2 PM with the family present from 4-8 PM followed by a vigil service conducted at 7 PM in Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 South 118th Street, Omaha, NE 68144. A Mass of Christian Burial was officiated in the church on Tuesday, June 16, 2008 at 10 AM. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ben Petrzilka Memorial Fund for building Storm Shelters for Boy Scout Camps, in care of any Omaha State Bank.
