Born August 30, 1922 in Croft, PA, he worked in the coalmines, played semi-pro baseball and boxed semi-professionally.
He married Gladys (nee Duncan) Bain prior to his assignment as an aircraft mechanic in the Pacific during World War II.
Ellsworth was survived by his daughter Sandra Faye (nee Bain) Forest; two granddaughters Leah (Jeremiah) Ball, Kristen Forest; and his four legged companion Philly.
Gladys predeceased Ellsworth in 2003.
Ellsworth worked as a car hauler and was featured in an article in the Detroit News on December 13, 1959, having drove three and one half million miles without an accident.
He held office of Recording Secretary of the Teamsters Union and was close friends with both the leaders and the rank and file of the Teamsters. Ellsworth was a long-standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Austin Lodge #48 Free and Accepted Masons of Davisburg, Shriners, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Lake Orion, and Disabled American Veterans.
Ellsworth had a generous heart and a wide circle of friends. He is sorely missed.
