Ms. Bowen graduated from Lebanon High School in 1934. She was a life resident of Boone County. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years in the 1950s. Ms. Bowen worked for Haag Drug Store and Scott's Dime Store for over 20 years, and then Ackerman's Drug Store for 19 years, retiring in 1977.
She was born April 2, 1916, in Boone County, to John C. Ross and Ada McIntyre, and they preceded her in death. She married John A. Bowen on Jan 2, 1937, and they divorced.
Survivors include one son, Larry Bowen of Colfax; two grandchildren, Tim Bowen of Frankfort and Troy Bowen of Winter Haven, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter.
