KOUTS -- Reuben A. Birky, 100, of 608 N. Main St., died at 1 a.m. today in Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso. Mr. Birky was a retired farmer. He was born on March 12, 1890, in Oberlin, Kan. On Jan. 12, 1911, in Milford, he married Malinda Schweitzer. She died in 1971. Surviving are a daughter, Laurine Koehler of Kouts; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters and a son preceded him in death. He was a member of Hopewell Mennonite Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Hopewell Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kosanke Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
