KOUTS--Ben P. Birky, 78, a Porter county resident for 40 years, died this morning in Porter Memorial hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1888 in Garden City, Mo. On Nov. 1, 1910 in Hopedale, Ill., he married Leah Bechler, who preceded him in death in 1966.
He was a member of Hopewell Mennonite church in Kouts. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Lulu Birky, Kouts, and Mrs. Doris Hook, Valparaiso; one sister, Miss Anna Birky, and one brother, Jacob Birky, both of Dewey, Ill.; and one grandson.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hopewell church with the Rev. Samuel Miller officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell cemetery.
Friends may call at Kosanke Brothers Funeral home, Kouts, after 4 p.m. Monday.
