Sometime between 1860-1870 her father died and her mother moved to IN with Mary and her 4 younger siblings. Her older siblings were already out of the house and established in NC. I haven't discovered why they chose IN though.
On 28 Dec 1873 she married John Henry Justice, a Union Civil War Veteran. She died from double pneumonia.
