The following info is from Kathie's obituary and from the newspaper stories. I didn't want to put it all in because I didn't want to put the family names listed there on this site. Kathie would have been a Senior at Harris County High School, Hamilton, Ga. and would have graduated high school in May 2008. Kathie was the sister of my oldest daughter's best friend.
Kathie Lee Ishman August 24, 1990- July 29, 2007 FORTSON, GA— Kathie Lee Ishman, 16, of Fortson, GA. died in Harris County on Sunday, July 29, 2007. Funeral services will be held August 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Ishman lived in Fortson all of her life. She was born in Columbus GA. on August 24, 1990. She was an active member of the band at Harris County High School participating in the Marching and Jazz Bands. She was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Fortson GA.
"She was a great band student, ready to do anything for the band," said Harris County High School Assistant Band Director. "She played clarinet and saxophone. To help balance the band out, she learned a new instrument, the sax. She had been in the band since the sixth grade."
"Kathie Lee Ishman was planning to spend the night with a friend Saturday because she and a group of friends were going to Six Flags Over Georgia on Sunday.
Instead of a weekend of fun with friends, her family and friends are grieving the Saturday night accident that took the life of the 16-year-old girl.
The rising senior at Harris County High School died after she guided her 2001 Jeep Cherokee into a driveway along Whitesville Road to turn around, only to lose control and become trapped in the vehicle after it tipped over an embankment into a pond, submerging upside down.
The car was discovered in the pond near the driveway at Whitesville Road by the Harris County Sheriff before 4 p.m. Sunday. He said her seat belt was still attached and the doors locked. There appeared to be no signs of trauma."
