T.G. Hicks, 68, died of a heart attack Monday about 7 pm, according to a verdict of Justice of the Peace E. M. Person, who held a inquest at the scene.
Mr. Hicks collapsed in front of his mule barn on Highway 96, approximately one mile north of the city limits.
He was a native of Dothan, Ala., and had made his home in Kirbyville for 45 years.
He was a livestock dealer and was widely known for his love of mules and for his trading slogan. "A Tolerable Square Deal." He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Etta Hollis Hicks of Kirbyville; three sons, T.G. Hicks Jr., and Robert Hicks of Dothan, Ala; three sisters, Mrs Willie World of Webb, ALa., Mrs. Frank Stephenson of dothan, Ala., and Miss Lois Beck of Thomasville, N. C., and one grandchild.
