Launa A. Jennings NORFOLK - Launa A. Jennings, 82, went to be with the Lord April 9, 2008. She was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Exeter, Devon, England to the late Fernleigh and Hilda Warran. Launa met her late husband of 49 years, Calvin Jennings during World War II in England. She lived half her life in England and half in the U.S. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, eating (especially eating out), playing Rook, fishing, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Mark C. Jennings and wife Carol of Elizabeth City and Philip R. Jennings and his wife Pam of Virginia Beach; sister, Marion Jacobs and her husband Michael of England; seven grandchildren, Lindsey and Philip II of Virginia Beach, Rachel of Rhode Island, Bradford of Chesapeake, Adrianne of Elizabeth City, Launa of Fredericksburg and Brittany of Guam; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Trueblood. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
