A. H. Ledford, veteran of the Civil War, died at this home in Waverly Thursday. He suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday. Mr. Ledford went up the Missouri river on a gunboat during the Civil War, and fired on Waverly. He was well acquainted with West Port landing, forerunner of Kansas City. He is survived by two daughters. (Many people have referred to him as Alford after his father but the majority of the records for Alfred, including his civil war records, refer to him as Alfred.) He was a steam engineer. Willis Funeral Home, Carrollton, Mo.
