J. W. "Wes" Shoults (August 6, 1916 - April 1, 1982)
J. W. "Wes" Shoults, a Lusk area rancher until his retirement in 1979 when he moved to Torrington, died last Thursday, April 1, in a Cheyenne Hospital.
Funeral service was held Saturday morning at the United Presbyterian Church in Torrington with the Rev. W. Darrell Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Torrington. A memorial has been established to the Wyoming Lung Association.
J. W. Shoults was born August 6, 1916, at Frederick, Wyo., the son of James Alan "Jim" Shoults and Olive Agnes (Bailey) Shoults. He attended schools at Guernsey, Mills, and Jay Em and graduated from Torrington High School.
On June 18, 1939, he and Velma Ruby (Allen) Shoults were married at Jay Em, the couple moved from Jay Em to Oregon and then returned to Dubois, Wyo., and in 1956 started ranching in the Prairie Center area, south of Lusk.
Mrs. Shoults died in 1969. Mr. Shoults retired and moved to Torrington, in 1979.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carol Eutsler of Simi Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Sharon Darnall of McCook, Neb., two sons, James Shoults of Torrington and Gary Shoults of Henry, Neb.; a brother, Rex Shoults of Van Tassell; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Harris of Torrington and ten grandchildren.
