"Gran" was married to B.M. Duncan, and had 3 children. Everyone in Canton knew "Ma Duncan", but no one dared call her that to her face! She served many a meal in the Skyline Cafe and the Lakeland Drive-in. She was famous for her barbecue sauce and pies. She, with her husband, successfully ran these two restaurants, she with an 8th grade education, and he with a 3rd.

She once defended her brother by hitting a bully in the head with her lard bucket lunch pail. She was a real steel magnolia, gentle and strong. She loved pink and polka-dots, the outdoors, her family and God. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church for many years. Though she's been gone for quite some time, many still remember Bert as an amazing woman.

The date of death on her headstone is wrong. The date listed was the date of her burial.
