MR. and MRS. ALTON MONK Married 45 years SPRAKERS - Mr. and Mrs. Alton Monk, Sr., Sprakers, were honored guests at a family dinner party at the Poplars, Fultonville, Sunday, Oct. 19, in observance of their 45th wedding anniversary. Attending were Mrs. Charles Darrow, mother of Mrs. Monk, Mrs. Ronald Slater and daughter, Mary-Beth, Mayfield, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Monk, Jr., Mr. and Mrs Edward Monk, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Monk, Miss Cindy Monk and William Jones, Sprakers; Mr. and Mrs. Alan Reynolds, Canajoharie, RD, and Alfred Zemken, Gloversville, RD. Miss Dorothy Darrow and Alton Monk were married Oct. 19, 1935, by the Rev. C.R. Hamilton, pastor of the Fort Plain Baptist Church. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Heiser, Seebers Lane. Dorothy L. Monk, 72, of Monk Road. Sprakers, died early Friday, May 12, at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Monk was born Dec. 31, 1916, in the Town of Root, the daughter of Charles J. and Marjorie Olmstead Darrow. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mrs. Monk was a member of the Sprakers Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid Society of the church? She also was a 50-year member of Mapletown Grange. On Oct. 19, 1935, she married Alton B. Monk, who survives. She was well known in the area for her homemade apple doll collection Survivors, in addition to her husband. Mrs. Monk are three sons, Richard and Edward of Sprakers, and Alton of Fort Plain; three daughters, Carol Slater of Royal Oak, Mich., Diane Reynolds of Dolgeville and Cynthia Jones of Sprakers; two brothers, Edward Darrow and Kenneth Darrow, both of Sprakers; 16 grandchildren and £ight great-grandchildren. Service was held Monday, May 15, at Sprakers Reformed Church with burial in Johnstown Cemetery. Calling hours were at the Lenz Funeral Home, Canajoharie, Saturday, May 13. Memorial contributions may be made to Sprakers Reformed Church, Hospice of Fulton County, or American Cancer Society.
