“Gertrude Barker Watkins, age 81, resident of West Lebanon several years, died at 10:40 p.m. last Thursday, death being caused by influenza. Mrs. Watkins was born September 4, 1854, in Putnam County, Indiana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Barker. March 16, 1881, she married Quincy Watkins.
Surviving are the husband; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Little, of Pine Village; two sons, Earl and Raymond Watkins, of West Lebanon; a brother, A.H. Barker, of Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Mount, Indianapolis, Mrs. Margaret Dean, Greencastle, and Mrs. George Mann, Green Hill.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock Sunday at the residence in West Lebanon. Burial was made in the West Lebanon cemetery.” – April 9, 1936
