Edward Louis Marney, 84, retired Rutland Railroad engineer, died at 9:30 Monday (Sept 15, 1959) in Hepburn Hospital here. He had been a patient since suffering a cerebral hemorrhage a week ago at his home, 810 Greene St.
Surviving Mr. Marney are three sons, Ralph and Harold T., both of Jackson Heights, and Edison of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Mrs, Virginia Stevens of Jackson Heights and Mrs. James J. (Eleanor) Celano of Dallas, Texas; a brother, William A. Marney of Ogdensburg; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews.
Another daughter, Irene Marney died in 1923 at the age of 17.
Mr. Marney was born in Ogdensburg Oct 30, 1875, a son of Louis and Agnes Forsythe Marney. He married Margaret Sears of Waddington on Jan 16, 1901. Mrs. Marney died in April 1949.
Mr. Marney was a lifelong resident of Ogdensburg and in his younger days played baseball with the old Ogdensburg Athletic Club. He was an engineer on the Rutland Railroad for 43 years, retiring in January 1941.
Mr. Marney was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and of the Independent Order of Forresters.
The body was cremated and the ashed buried in Ogdensburg Cemetery.
