Curtis Abney Jr., 84 DIED JANUARY 30 2006
Curtis Abney Jr., 84, of Louisville, formerly of Irvine, widower of Linda Wiseman Abney, died Monday January 30 2006. He was born Oct. 21, 1921 in Estill County, a son of the late Curtis Abney and Lula Dunaway Abney. He was a retired railroad lineman, and a veteran of WWII. Survivors include a daughter, JaTina Irwin; four sons, Jim (Jackie) Abney, Logan (Mildred) Abney, Greg (Jessica) Abney, all of Louisville and Mike (Barb) Abney of Colorado; one sister, Helen Houghton of Vevay, Ind.; three brothers, Charlie Abney of Nicholasville, James Abney of Irvine, and Taylor (Florence) Abney of Camargo; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday February 2 2006 at 2 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Glendon Woosley with burial at the Dunaway Cemetery, White Oak. Pallbearers were Mike Long, Mike Abney, Doug Muncie, Larry Chaney, Wayne Hall, Cody Abney, Chris Zinser and Phillip Wiseman.

Curtis was awarded a purple heart for being wounded in the WW2 conflict.
