Of Area Man's Death

William Mathews, 46, of LaCrosse, died at 10:30 a.m. in Porter Memorial hospital, after a short illness. He was admitted to the institution Thursday.
A post mortem was scheduled to be conducted this afternoon to determine the cause of death. The body will be sent to the Boehlke funeral home in Wanatah. Burial arrangements will be announced tomorrow.

Memorial services for William Albert Mathews, 46, of LaCrosse, who died at 11 a.m. Friday in Porter Memorial hospital, will be held in the Boehlke funeral home, Wanatah, with the Rev. Kendall Sands, of LaCrosse, officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Evangelical cemetery, Wanatah.
Friends may call at the Boehlke funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday.
A post mortem was conducted Friday by a local doctor in an effort to determine the cause of death, but the physician today refused to reveal his findings.
The decedent was born in LaCrosse May 28, 1905, a son of William and Pauline (Krueger) Mathews. He was employed by the Studebaker corporation of South Bend, and prior to that was in business in LaCrosse for 16 years.
On March 2, 1929, he married Mary O'Donnell, of Chicago. He was a member of Salem Evangelical and Reformed church.
Surviving are the widow; one son, William E., of Muncie; one daughter, Mary Pauline, at home; and one brother, Frederick J., of Tomahawk, Wis.
