RAYMOND LEONARD HART
Raymond Leonard Hart was born to Joseph E. Hart and Anna Bengston Hart at Franklin Grove, a town north of Essex, Page County, Iowa, on August 25, 1902, and died at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa, on June 18, 1976, at the age of 73 years.
While still a youngster, his family moved to Kissimee, Florida, due to his father's health. Later the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, then to Topeka, Kansas, and finally, back to his farm north of Yorktown, where he lived until 1927, when he and his brother Verner started farming two miles north of Northboro.
He was educated in Franklin Grove and Clarinda Schools.
In 1930, he was united in marriage to Edythe Iona Bayless. To this union two children were born. The couple farmed in the Northboro area until 1954 when they moved to the Lone Park school community of Morton township. They resided in this community until his death.
He was a member of the Northboro United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Edythe, a son Duane Hart and family in Denver, Colorado; a daughter Joyce Athen and family of Riverton; nine grandchildren, Larry, Michael, Sandra, Jimmy, and Susan Athen, Kelly, Jeffrey, David, and Megan Hart; and one great-grandchild, Daron. He is also survived by five brothers, Verner of Shenandoah, Iowa; Ivar of Oakland, California; Harris of Talmadge, Ohio; Lawrence of Clarinda, Iowa; and Warren of Oakland, California; and by three sisters; Mrs. Terry (Esther) Hull of Harding, Arkansas, Mrs. Ted (Marion) Boham of Lamont, California, and Mrs. Helen Hooper of Essex, Iowa.
Funeral services were held from the United Methodist Church, Northboro, Iowa, with the Rev. Reginald Merrill officiating. Organist was Mrs. Ben Crain, Mrs. William Smiley, soloist.
Caring for flowers were Mrs. Karl Boylan, Mrs. Paul Chambers, and Mrs. Francis Sallee. Mrs. Rex Alderson and Mrs. Howard McGuire were in charge of the memorial fund, and Mrs. James Mackey was in charge of memorial registration. Ushers were Howard Carlson and Glen Perry.
Bearers were Alan Bayless, Dale Bayless, Dennis Bayless, Dale Hart, Donnie Hart, and Dennis McMillen. Honorary bearers were Ralph Braymen, Paul Chambers, Lewis Clark, Nevel Desart, Norvin Nye, George Racine, Lester Racine, and David Sigar. Burial was at Union Grove Cemetery, Page County, Iowa.
