Mrs. Bessie Gay Dies; Services Held Monday
Mrs. Bessie Ragsdale Gay died at 10 a.m. last Saturday in her home two miles east of Okolona following a long illness. She was 82.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday from Barry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James A. Ruffin officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Gay was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an active worker in the church and homemakers club work until she began failing in health. After the death of her first husband, she was married to Adam W. Gay, who died several years ago.
She leaves three sons, Byron Hurt, with whom she lived, Jim A. and Webb Hurt, both of Odessa, Texas; two step-sons, Charles Gay of Jackson, Tenn., and Terrell Gay of Colorado; two brothers,Leon Ragsdale of Winter Park Fla., and Charles Ragsdale of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
