Long Illness Is Fatal to Widow of Waymansville Physician.
Mrs. Phebe A. Banks, widow of Dr. W. H. Banks, a physician at Waymansville for many years, died Saturday at the home of a grandniece, Miss Gretchen Geitz, in Indianapolis. She was a sister of Mrs. Addie H. Storey, formerly of this city, who also has been residing with her and the grandniece in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Banks was born Dec. 11, 1857, in Ohio, and came to Bartholomew county in 1880 after her marriage to Dr. Banks in 1874. They settled at Waymansville where Dr. Banks began the practice of medicine. Both were widely known and in later years Mrs. Banks became known to all of her friends and acquaintances as "Aunt Phebe."
Following the death of Dr. Banks in 1922, she came to Columbus to make her home with Mrs. Storey and went from here to Indianapolis six years ago.
She was a lifelong member of the Christian church.
Only survivors are the sister, Mrs. Storey, and Miss Geitz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Flanigan, Reed and Hull funeral home, conducted by Dr. T. K. Smith, pastor of the Christian church, with burial at Garland Brook cemetery.
Friends may call this evening at the funeral home, where the casket will be open until the services.
