Owner Bill's Family Restaurant AUGUSTA, Ga. - Hubert Aldon "Bill" Isdell, 83, husband of Dot Dixon Isdell, entered into rest Monday, June 2, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, June 5, 2008 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Isdell was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He served his country in WWII as an Army Engineer in Burma, India. Early in his career with American News Company he opened several restaurants including Albany, Georgia, Tallahassee, Florida and returned to Augusta in 1961 to open the Salvin Restaurant at Bush Field. Then in 1963 he bought Bill's Family Restaurant on Peach Orchard Road. He was a people person and his work brought him great joy because he met so many people. He was the best husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dot Dixon Isdell; son, Mike (Lawana) Isdell, Grovetown; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Isdell, Tennessee, Amy Isdell, Grovetown, Melissa Isdell, Augusta; two great grandchildren, Haley Isdell and Dylan Isdell; Brothers, Allen (Edna) Isdell, Augusta, his twin brother, Jake (Mary) Isdell, Omega, Georgia, Charles Isdell, Augusta; sisters, Elizabeth Whitaker, Martinez, Ann (Virgil) Jahnke, Augusta; a special niece, Jamie Beckman and several other nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Dallas Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 3 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia.
