Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hamblin, age 78, died at 9:35 o'clock Thursday evening at the Miller Rest Home in Chillicothe. She had been in failing health for 13 years and seriously ill for three months. On Feb 8, 1882, she was born on the Lee Homestead, 3½ miles northwest of Ludlow, the daughter of Thomas R. Lee and Sadie (Bryan) Lee. She attended Bryanville School near Ludlow. She was married to Marcus Hamblin on Sep 5, 1900, at Braymer. They spent their entire life on a farm two miles northwest of Ludlow. Mr. Hamblin died in 1940. In 1941 she moved to Chillicothe to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jess Dawkins. Mrs. Hamblin was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Rebecca Lodge. Mrs. Hamblin leaves her daughter, Mrs. Jess (Grace) Dawkins, 1117 Clay St, and a son, Leland Hamblin of Ludlow; five grandchildren: Carol Jean Hamblin of Kansas City, Richard Hamblin of Ludlow, Mary Beth Dawkins of Chillicothe, and Galen and Richard Dawkins of Detroit, MI; and two great-grandchildren; Cathy and Lisa Dawkins of Detroit; also surviving are two nieces , Mrs. Gladys Lammers of Lexington, NE, and Mrs. Bessie Clark of Chillicothe; and one nephew, Edwin Lee of Denver. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, and a sister.
