T.F. "Pete" Goins, 74, of Sweetwater, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Sweetwater Hospital.

A son of the late Bill and Mary Ellen Goins, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Frankie Sue Goins; two brothers, Steve and James Goins; and four sisters, Anna Bell Millsaps, Lena Anderson, Sophia Ray Vaughn and Imogene Ghorley. He was retired from McKeehan Chair Company and loved hunting and farming.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Margaret Goins of Sweetwater; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Billy Joe and Kim Goins of Athens, DeWayne and Shirley Johnson of Englewood, Jeffery Baker and Richard and Shirley Goins, all of Athens, Pete Goins of Sweetwater, and Katrina Goins of Madisonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Mark Belk and Patricia Arrants, all of Cleveland, and Shane Arrants of Riceville; one brother and sister-in-law, Arvil and Oneida Goins of Athens; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law, Lynn Newman, Dorcas Ratledge, Charlotte and John Henry Shelton, Mollie and Clyde Shelton and Hazel and Bobby Collins, all of Athens, Laverne and Ralph Duncan of Decatur, and Ruthie Stephens of Niota; 12 grandchildren, Joseph and Bill Goins, both of Athens, Charity Johnson of Englewood, Dakota and Jessica Belk, both of Cleveland, Johnny Ray and Jimi Ann Parsons, both of Athens, Laura Malone of Athens, Cheyenne and Bailey Arrants, both of Riceville, and Isaac and Amber Goins, both of Sweetwater; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Huckabey, Aimee Malone and Gabby Malone, all of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ollie Lankford, the Rev. Jamie McKee and Tim McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Buttram's Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
