Mr. Baer entered into rest on Sunday, October 11, 1998 at the Highland Hospital after a brief illness. He has been a resident of Shreveport since 1953. He was a retired industrial designer with the Bowlin Co. During W.W.II he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Baer is the current vice commander of the Lowe-McFarlane American Legion Post 14; the Fourth District American Legion Area F Commander and the past Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Baer. He is survived by his wife, Ann Baer; one daughter, Carole Caraway and husband, Miles of Shreveport; two sons, Greggory L. Baer and wife, Janet of Clarksburg, W. VA and Marl P. Baer and wife, Lesley of Shreveport. Also survived by one brother, James Baer of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Robert Steward, Rellis Godfrey, Steve Davitt, Harold Burson, Billy Sanders and Cecil Faries. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bowlin and Fred Bowlin.
Military rites will be conducted by the 12th District, Dept. of LA, Veterans of Foreign Wars - Honor Guard.
