Bess Sanders Bremner was one of ten children born to William S. and Winnie Vaughn Sanders in the Kelton (Kelly Pinkney - Pea Ridge) section of Union County, South Carolina. She had red hair and freckles. She was a registered nurse, and worked for a period of time as the private duty nurse for United Mine Workers President John L. Lewis. She was survived by her husband Alexander "Al" Bremner, Sr., and their son Alexander "Sandy" Bremner.

Aunt Bess' burial site in Alexandria, VA, far from her original home and family in SC, now contains soil taken from the graves of both of her parents and five brothers buried at her childhood church, Fosters Chapel United Methodist Church, in Kelton, SC. RKS
