Arthur Hamilton, son of R. P. Hamilton, died last Friday evening at six o’clock after a brief illness. He has served as mail carrier on rural route number three since it was started last summer and made a good record. A few days prior to his death he took the grip and was unable to leave the house. On Thursday he was much better, however, and expected to resume work soon. That evening he took a turn for the worse, became unconscious and lingered in that condition until the next evening. Deceased was twenty-nine years of age and was born in Union township. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Shiloh church, east of town, conducted by Rev. J. W. Bouher, and under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen.

SAMARIA – The Modern Woodmen, by the death of Arthur Hamilton, have lost a worthy brother. His parents have lost a dutiful and noble son, and the county a citizen of great worth. He was born near our neighborhood and passed his young and happy years in our midst. We, the citizens of Beech Grove and Samaria extend our heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved parents. He is resting sweetly after a noble and useful life. He was called from labor to rest in the prime of manhood.
