Margaret is the oldest child and daughter of Samuel Dixon Robinson and Martha Hunter. On 23 Jun 1825, she married Samuel McCullough, Jr. They had five children: Elizabeth Martha, Nancy Jane, John Taylor, Matilda A, and Zenas Oratio McCullough.

Margaret's father, Samuel Robinson created the coffin [a hallowed out walnut tree] for her husband's father, Samuel McCullough, Sr, the first settler to die in the Mitchell Settlement in the spring of 1800.
