Rachel Alice Askins, 78, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 4, 2007.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Jeff Ponder of The Church At Quail Creek officiating. Entombment will be by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.

Rachel Alice Askins was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Cache, Okla., to Cora and Tilmon Gildon. She married Cecil Askins on Jan. 4, 1947, in Duncan, Okla. They lived in Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Askins, on Oct. 4, 1991; her parents; a brother, Deverl Gildon; and a sister, Ina Jo McGlothin.

Survivors include three daughters, Alice Rohr and husband Willie of Lamar, Colo., Wilma Myers and husband David of Casper, Wyo., and Verna Popp and husband Jeff of Amarillo; two brothers, Troy Gildon and Roy Gildon, both of Duncan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
