James Joseph Drew was born November 18, 1926 in Carrollton, Michigan, the son of the late Sophia (Lapinski) Drew and Benjamin and Elsie (Thomas) Drew. He married Irene Saldana, July 7, 1970. She survives him.

He served with the U. S. Army during WWII.

He was employed as a Supervisor at General Motors, Saginaw Parts Plant, retiring in 1983 with thirty-three years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he volunteered for eight years doing many projects for the church and parish. He enjoyed carpentry, fishing and playing cards.

Mr. Drew, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away April 21, 2008, at Covenant Health Care, in Saginaw, Michigan, at age 81 years.

Surviving besides his wife are three children and their spouses, Fred and Maria Barron; Margaret Sanchez; Daniel and Mary Barron, all of Saginaw; sixteen grandchildren one of whom is Alesia Sullivan who was like a daughter to him; eleven great grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Ann and Ron Riggs, North Carolina; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law and their spouses, Dave and Chris Saldana; Angie and Raul Perez; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Lydia Barron, an infant son, Daniel, two grandsons, Ron Sanchez, Jr., Oscar Olivarez Jr., two sisters, Thelma Merker, Judy Drew, a son-in-law, Ron Sanchez, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Barron, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eliodorio and Helen Saldana and his special uncle and aunt, Elmer and Minnie Booker.
