Pearl Sprowls McGlumphy, 88, of 555 1/2 Fayette Street, Washington, died at 6:25 AM Saturday, July 8, 1978, in Washington Hospital Extended Care Facility after a long illness. She was born July 11, 1889, in West Finley, a daughter of Simon and Jane Wise Sprowls. Mrs. McGlumphy was a member of Union Valley United Methodist Church and Washington Area Senior Citizens. In 1912 she married Robert Leo McGlumphy, who died in 1940. Surviving are three daughters, Dorles Sanes of Pittsburgh, Mildred, wife of William Metzner of Houston, Tex., and Mary Virginia, wife of George Rettinger, with whom she made her home; one sister, Sophie Barker of Washington; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Three brothers and seven sisters are deceased.
