According to David Goodnow's death record he was a farmer who was born at Paxton, Massachusetts the son of David and Abigail Goodnow. That record had his age as 63 years old (born about 1788.) On the 19th of December in 1813 he married Miss Clarissa Whittaker at Oakham, Massachusetts. Their intentions of marriage were published in Oakham on December 12, 1813 and mentioned they were both residents of that town at the time.
The death records for all three children of David and Clarissa did not have a birthplace entered for David.
In the 1790 U.S. census there was a David Goodenow and David Goodenow, Jr. recorded at Paxton. They were most likely the father and grandfather of the subject of this memorial (who was only a child at the time) who all share the same given name.
