James "Jim" Burnette, 60, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2008.

He was a beloved husband, father and uncle.

He was born in McDowell County on Feb. 11, 1948 and was a son of the late James Odis Burnette and Leona Henderson Burnette.

Jim is survived by his wife, Susan Cunningham Burnette, of the home; sons, James William Burnette Jr., Shorty Burnette, Steven William Burnette, Johnny Burnette, Anthony Borsotti and his wife, Melissa, and Scott Cunningham and his wife, Ashley, all of Morganton; daughters, Kimberly Jane Burnette of Morganton, Angie Deal of Icard and Lisa Michelle Cunningham of Georgia; a brother, Charles Albert Burnette, of Morganton; sisters, Rosa Lee Carneal of Glen Alpine, Della Jane Burnette of Morganton and Wanda Grace Lane of Vale; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Burnette; a niece, Roxann Alley; and a great-nephew, Donnie Powell.

Burial will follow at Dysartsville Baptist Church Cemetery.
