G. W, FOSTER.

G.W. Foster died at his home in East Okolona on September 25th. He had been afflicted for some time and the end, however sad, was undoubtedly a welcome relief to the man who wrestled so long, patiently, and bravely with the affliction that knows no master. For months the deceased fought for strength, but it was the will of the Master that he should come and abide where sickness and sorrow is not known.

The death of G. W. Foster is an unspeakable loss to not only those who were closest to him, on account of kindred ties, but to his army of friends. He came to Okolona years ago, and has engaged in several different businesses and occupations until his health gave away. Against him no man could say aught. He was indeed a good man, not only as a husband and father but friend as well.

He leaves a wife, two daughters, son and brother, whose love, devotion, and tender care throughout the struggle has been no less beautiful than pathetic. They were faithful.
He was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, the ceremonies being conducted by Rev. Clark.

Okolona Messenger, October 28, 1908.

George W. Foster married Jane Anna Catherine Strayer on 6 June 1869 in Okemos, Ingham Co. Michigan. Jane is the daughter of Adam Gipe Strayer and Catherine Lesher-Strayer.

They lived in Liberty, Seneca Co. Ohio for a long time before Catherine died in 1850 about 8 months after Jane was born. Adam and his second wife moved to Michigan about 1855 and lived there until his death in 1906.
