Linda J. Strader, 64, of Arcola, IL and formerly of Oakland, IL, passed away at 8:07 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, at her residence in Arcola, IL.

Linda was born May 18, 1944, in Decatur, IL. She was a twin daughter of Joseph Carter and Helen Marjorie (Craig) Hood. She married Daniel Ray Strader on March 18, 1961 in Arthur, IL. He passed away October 11, 2005.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel Todd Strader and his wife, Sally of Fort Mill, SC, Curtis Allen Strader and his wife Sharolyn, of Okinawa, Japan, and Joseph Chad Strader and his wife, Lora of Arcola, IL; one daughter, Trisha Lynne Strader of Oakland, IL; three brothers, Richard Hood of Belleville, IL, Roger Hood and his wife, Lynda, of Spring Hill, FL and Ron Hood and his wife, Cheryl of Millstadt, IL; her twin sister, Sandy Miller and her husband, Bill of Nogal, NM; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Sydney and Grant Strader of Fort Mill SC, Clayton and Connor Strader of Okinawa, Japan and Reed, Chase and Ellie Strader of Arcola, IL.

Her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Danielle Strader, one sister-in-law, Linda Hood and one brother-in-law, Charles Guest preceded her in death.

Linda was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church and formerly a member of the Hindsboro Christian Church. She was also a member of the Kaskaskia Country Club.

Linda retired after several years of service from the U.S. Postal Service. She served as a rural mail carrier for the Hindsboro/Oakland area. She had also worked at the Arcola nursing home at one time and as an in-home healthcare giver. She found nursing others to be one of the most rewarding things she had ever done.

Linda liked poetry and was quite a good writer who enjoyed journaling. Linda was an avid sports fan; she especially loved the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini. She was also quite a fast-pitch softball player in her youth.

Linda loved spending time with her friends and family and especially with her grandchildren. "Nana ,as the grandkids called her, never missed an opportunity to attend anything they were involved in. She especially loved to cheer them on at their sporting events.
