Obituary

Marvin U. Barker, son of J.C. and Corintha Barker, of Amsterdam, Mo., was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, July 5, 1885. At the age of 18 years he gave his heart to God and became a member of the East Mt. Zion church. The rest of his life was spent in active Christian work. He was Sunday school superintendent of that church for a number of years.

In the year 1904, November 16, He was married to Laura Mae De Vere, of La Cygne, Kansas, and to this union were born three children. He departed this life December 2, 1918, at the home of Mrs. Barker's mother near Vilas, Colo., at the age of 33 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was kind and thoughtful of others, and prayerful during all his suffering.

He leaves to mourn his departure a loving companion, three children, his parents and one brother, L.R. Barker of Kansas City, Mo.; who was at his at his bedside when the end came.

Funeral services at the Boston cemetery, conducted by Nixon Rich, December 5.

Boston Cemetery is at Section 16, Township 325, Range 44W in Baca Co., Colorado. The cemetery is South and West of Vilas, Colorado. Take Highway 160 to County Road 39. Continue to County Road V, and cemetery is on the left, south on the hill.
