Joseph LUCKEY SR. b. abt March 14, 1766, d. 9-31-1833 age 67 years 7 months 17 days was a farmer. It is reported that he died at his home in Auburn (Sennett?), Cayuga County, NY. a Revolutionary War soldier . The Luckey family was originally from Scotland in a time of religious persecution they fled to Northern Ireland.
Three brothers emigrated to this country. After a time they separated. One going west,another south and one settled near New Hamburg. Where the old home stead of Squire Luckey could still be seen in 1885. (Probably somewhere in the Rombout Patent, near Wappingers Falls and New Hamburg.)
James LUCKEY (of Londonderry, Ireland) Seems to have been the prodginator of the family. In the mid 1800's they had 7 Methodist preachers in the family.


Joseph LUCKEY SR. m. Lanah WAGNER His wife was from Holland. The Old family record states "Lanah WAGNER (Magdalena Van WEGNER) b. July 6, 1763 m. 1787 died suddenly August 6, 1816. They lived in Rensselaerville, Albany County. NY before moving to Sennett (Brutus), Cayuga County NY.
The had several children including:

2)Rev Benjamin LUCKEY b. Aug 14, 1789 d 1853, PA. lived Short Tract
3)Jane LUCKEY b 18 Oct 1792 d 18 Oct 1857 m. REV. Joseph McCREERY SR.
3)REV. Samuel LUCKEY b 4 Apr 1791, d 11 Oct 1861
4)James LUCKEY b 1797, d 1836

Luckey's farm in Sennet seems to be just to the east of McMasters Corners on the roads called Throop Rd. today either known as Nesbit Lane / Montross or Turnpike RD.
