Willie Lee Flippo, 93, of Dora, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Bell Funeral Home with burial in West Jefferson Freewill Cemetery. The Rev. J.C. Robinson will officiate. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Bell Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Flippo was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George Flippo; baby, Betty Flippo; son, Edward Flippo; grandson, Dennis Samons; great-grandsons, James Slade Samons and Tim Flippo; and parents, Ed and Cora Reid.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Flippo and his wife, Pat, of Cordova, Margaret Samons and her husband, Walter, Charles Flippo and his wife, Marilyn, Kathryn Ricker and her husband, Bill, and Donald Flippo and his wife, Annette, all of Dora; daughter-in-law, Joyce Flippo of Dora; sister, Imogene Morrow of Dora; brother, Byron Reid of Hammond, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express special thanks to her caregivers, Alacare Hospice; and the nurses from the UMWA during her illness.
