Obituary: Flippo, Rev. George age 88 of Snow Town, passed away Wednesday; December 23,1998. Rev. Flippo was a retired minister for 66 years and a member of the Church of God of Canaan. He pastored churches in Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Virginia. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He would have been married for 69 years on December 24, 1998. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, December 27, 1998 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Freewill Cemetery at West Jefferson. Rev. Bill Clark, Rev. J.C. Robinson and Rev. Curtis Flippo will officiate. He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Mattie Flippo; son Edward Flippo; and grandson, Dennis Samons. Survivors: wife Willie Lee Flippo of Snowtown; daughters, Margaret Samons (Walter) and Kathryn Ricker (Bill) of Dora; sons, Rev. Curtis Flippo (Pat) of Cardova, Rev. Charles Flippo (Marilyn) and Rev. Donald Flippo (Annette) of Dora; brother Jesse Flippo of Cullman; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. Bell Funeral Home of Sumiton is directing.
