ERIE, KS - Sarah L. Dillinger-Bryan, 82, of Erie, Kansas, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She had been in failing health.

She was born June 18, 1922, at Argonia, Kansas, to Clyde and Setta (Hatchet) Bond.

She grew up in Argonia and moved to the St. Paul, Kansas area while in high school. She graduated from St. Paul High School and Pittsburg State University.

She married Lloyd E. Dillinger on June 2, 1942. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1983.

She married Dr. Emery C. Bryan on Nov. 28, 1986. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1994.

She taught for 37 years at the Menor, Oak Grove and South Mound schools and the St. Paul public school.
She was a member of Federated Church in Erie, the United Methodist Women, the Martha Circle, the Monday Study Club, the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, the South Mound Ladies Club, and the Monday morning prayer group in St. Paul.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Hines of Erie, KS; two sons, Larry Dillinger of rural Parsons, KS, and Don Dillinger of rural St. Paul, KS; one sister, Marjorie Giefer of rural Girard, KS; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by six brothers, Lloyd, Harry, Ray, James, Alva, and Joe Bond; one sister, Wynona Hancock; one grandson, Eric Dillinger; and one great-grandson, Nathan Gilmore.

Funeral services will be at Erie Federated Church with the Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery, South Mound, Kansas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
