Don and Sue spent 12 years living and working in Venezuela for the Creole Petroleum Corporation (a division of Standard Oil).
They came to Fowler in 1958 and Don served eight years as town supervisor. From 1969 to 1976, when he retired, he was an assistant professor of civil construction engineering technology at Canton ATC.
He was active in the First Methodist Church, was a member and past president of the Gouverneur Luncheon Club, and was a member of Gouverneur Lodge 217 F & AM.
