She re-married to William Jackson (Jack) Herndon circa the early 1920s.
She was related to my sister-in-law, (Frances) Jean Godfrey Heflin, wife of my deceased brother, Charles E. Heflin, Sr., who died in 1987. Macie's youngest brother, Dewey, was a great favorite of the Godfrey clan around Warrenton and my parents adored him, too. He was a lively, intelligent (really mentally alert) man into his 90s. And he was so good to many people including my late brother in so many ways. Jean called him "Uncle Dewey." I imagine he may have been her great-uncle.
