David J. "Sarge" Guyer, 60, of Sharon, S.C., formerly of Duncansville and Cresson, died unexpectedly Thursday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lester J. Jr. and Mary Jane (Reffner) Guyer. He married Rose M. Bradley.

Surviving are his wife; son, Richard of Pottsville; grandson, Curtis of Pottsville; two brothers: Gary of Cumberland, Md., and Dennis of Akron, Ohio; and sister, Debra Fagans of Duncansville. He was preceded in death by son, Danny; and two brothers: Gerald and Lester III.

Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and a life member of the American Legion of Lilly. He retired from John Hancock Insurance Co.

Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home, 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John. D. Leatherman.

Interment with full military honors will be at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
