Mrs. A. Sherrill (Margaret Fain) Hall
August 20, 1920 — September 22, 2003

Margaret Fain Hall was born the third child to Arthur and Mamie Fain in Trinity, Texas and grew up in Crockett. She was a happy, talkative child.

As majorette, she led in the band at both Crockett High School and Sam Houston University. She found great joy traveling to all of the football games and special events, such as the Rose Festival in Tyler and Mardi Gras in Galveston.

Mrs. Hall met her handsome prince, Dr. Roy Shepperd, married him in 1940 and moved to Galveston while he finished his medical residency. They set up home in Llano, Texas where she had their four children, Sam, Rex, Robin, and Roy Austin. Dr. Shepperd passed away in 1954.

That summer, she met Rev. A. Sherrill Hall at a Methodist camp as a camp counselor. They were married the following year by Bishop A. Frank Smith in the chapel of First United Methodist Church in Houston. They served various churches around Texas, ending with A & M United Methodist Church, when Rev. Hall passed away in 1989.

Enjoying people of all ages and backgrounds, she did volunteer work both at the church with A&M Maroon and White Corps (the student center) and Crestview Retirement Home. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and of Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Mrs. Hall loved the challenge of a good bridge game with her friends. Traveling all over the world was a joy. Her favorite activity was attending Sunday school and church.

In her later years, she was most noted for her first skydive at age 70, yet she also rode a hot air balloon and a camel, handled snakes in Egypt, snow boarded down a mountain in Colorado, jet skied, and drove a three wheeler in the country.

Survivors include her sister, Kathryn Fain Beatty of Houston; her children, Rex Melvin Shepperd of Creede, Colo., her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Robin Heart Shepperd and Bart Sharp of Austin, her son and daughter-in-law, Roy Austin and Elizabeth Shepperd of Henderson; six grandchildren, Cheryl Shepperd, Cynthia Andrews, Ashley Shepperd, Christopher G. Rowland, Michael Shepperd and Angela Shepperd; five great-grandchildren, Justin and Amy Hart, Chandler Andrews, Ryan and Jacob Hurlbut. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
