Martha Sears
Martha L. Sears, mother of Nineveh resident Randy Sears, died Monday, August 12, 2002, in Indianapolis. A resident of Franklin, she was 76.
Born August 26, 1925, in Shobonier, Illinois, she was the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Suckow) Meyer.
She married George A. Sears March 26, 1946, in Piggott, Arkansas. He survives.
A 1943 graduate of Vandalia High School in Illinois, Mrs. Sears was employed for 17 years by Sears Service Center as a customer service representative. She retired in 1985.
An avid golfer who enjoyed playing cards, Mrs. Sears was a member of Church of the Lakes and Prospect Order of Eastern Star No. 452. She volunteered at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin.
Other survivors include two grandchildren, Jennifer Sears Skobel and Jon Sears, both of Nineveh, and a sister, Linda Meador of Vandalia, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brad Sears, in 1980; three brothers, Walter Meyer, Rudolph Meyer and Wib Meyer; and three sisters, Edna Jett, Lydia Edwards and Nora Smith.
Pastor Bruce Bendinger conducted a service Friday, August 16, at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
