Funeral services for Jesse William Johnson, 79, of Burnet, were held on Friday, November 22, 2002, at the Vanderveet Church of Christ in Burnet, with Tim Denton officiating. Burial followed in the Grandview cemetery in Grandview. He died Tuesday, November 19, 2002, in Austin.
Mr. Johnson was born September 12, 1923 in Maypearl. He graduated from Itasca High School in 1942. On August 23, 1943, he married Edith Bowles in Hillsboro. He served in the US Navy during WWII, he held several offices with Rotary, and served as an elder for the Church of Christ in Gatesville during the 1960s and for the Vanderveer Church of Christ in Burnet for many years. He retired from Lone Star Gas as local manager for Burnet, Bertram, and Marble Falls after being with the company for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Edith of Burnet; his daughters, Judy and Sandy; his sisters, Nell, Thava, and Mittie; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
