Harley D. Moss was the son of Martin and Sarah Flanders Moss. He moved to Lincoln County Kansas with his parents when he was 7 years old. On November 25, 1909 he married Martha Magdalene Meili. This union was blessed with two daughters: Helen M. Moss Healy and Frances E. Moss Chalmers. Harley died at the age of 50 years when a sand bank caved in on him while he was loading sand. He was in the process of building a new home on his farm south of Lincoln when the accident happened.
