Charlotte (Rudd) Copeland/Coplin, d/o John & Ann Charlotte (Hood) Rudd. Charlotte md. ca 1866 to John William Copeland. They had William, Laura, John W., Zachary, Mary Ann, Oliver, Lewis, Michael, Jennie, Dena, Phoebe and Phronea Copeland.

Madison, IA, 1 Mar. 1928, 10:3 – Life Resident Of Lee County Dies Wednesday – Interment Will be Made in the Family Cemetery in Viele, Friday - A life-long resident of Lee county, Charlotte Copeland, passed away at her home here, 1607 Thirty-fourth street, on Wednesday evening. She had been a resident of Fort Madison for the past 9 years, where she moved from Jefferson Township. She was born in Jefferson Township on October 6, 1850, and at the time of her death was 77 years old. Surviving her are six sons – William, John, Oliver, Lewis, Zachariah, all of this city, and Michael of Burlington; five daughters – Mrs. Laura Crosley, Mrs. Mary Rudd, Mrs. Raymond Ross and Miss Fronie Copeland of this city and Mrs. William Pittman of Dallas City.

Funeral rites will be held from the home on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Reeser. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Viele.
