BURIED THURSDAY
Mrs. W. A. Buchanan-She passed Away Wednesday Morning
There is a new made grave in Crystal Lake cemetery, and beneath the mound lie the mortal remains of Mrs. Buchanan, late wife of the well known treasurer of Benton County. The interment occurred Thursday forenoon, and a large number of relatives and friends were present.
Mrs. Buchanan died early Wednesday morning. Her death was the sequel to a long illness, which began with failing health several months ago. She grew worse and worse under the advance of her malady, and for several weeks before the end, the attack was violent. For some time before death, it was known to her relatives and intimate friends that the character of her trouble was such that she could not lot long survive. She was a sufferer from bright's disease.
The funeral occurred from the M. E. church South, at 10 o'clock Thursday forenoon. The scene of the obsequies was in the church where the deceased had been a devout worshipper and a consistent member and worker for years. The casket was heavily laden with floral offerings that sent a sweet perfume through the room. The service was conducted by Rev. John Reeves, pastor of the church. Members of the Woodmen Circle, of which deceased was a member were present, as were many bereaved relatives and friends.
The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wilbanks. Her maiden name was Nettie E. Wilbanks. She was born near Batesville, Mississippi, September 12, 1860. In 1874, she came with her parents to Oregon, and settled near Corvallis. She was united in marriage in the eighties to W. A. Buchanan, who is the the childless survivor of the family that is broken by this death. Besides the parents and husband, the surviving members of the family are, James and John Wilbanks of Linn county brothers, and three sisters, Mrs. Adler of the vicinity of Condon, Mrs. George Bogue of Portland, and Mrs Clarence Hout of Dallas.
Mrs. Buchanan had a wide circle of friends and all these join with the bereaved relatives in that grief that is the inevitable sequel to death, whenever and wherever it falls.
